QR menus and live table ordering for restaurants. Guests order from the table without an app; the kitchen gets a live board; owners get AI menu import and sales numbers.
The problem
Most restaurant digital menus are a PDF behind a QR. Guests still wave at a waiter, and orders still get lost between the table and the kitchen.
What I built
DineQR is a self-serve SaaS for restaurants. A guest scans the table QR, opens the menu, enters a name and phone, and places an order. They pay at the counter. No app install.
The admin side is where the work is: menu management, tables with printable QR codes, a live order board with sound, reviews with per-dish ratings, and sales analytics. Owners can import a menu from pasted text or a photo, and generate item photos when they need a catalog fast. Kitchen staff can run the board from an Android app that gets push notifications for new orders.
Owners sign up on their own with a free trial. Each restaurant picks its currency and timezone.
How it works
A Go API with MongoDB sits behind a Next.js frontend. It is multi-tenant, with every collection filtered by organization.
The guest menu URL uses query parameters for the restaurant and table. That keeps the page statically prerendered, so a QR scan is a CDN hit and costs no serverless invocation. The menu payload is edge-cached, and sold-out toggles propagate within the cache window.
Money is stored in integer minor units, and order lines snapshot their prices so analytics never depend on later menu edits. A table can have one open order at a time, enforced by a partial unique index; guests add items to it while it is open. New orders reach the kitchen over Server-Sent Events.
Menu import runs the text or photo through a vision model via OpenRouter and returns structured categories and items for the owner to review. Images live in Cloudflare R2. The Android app is a Capacitor shell over the live admin, with Firebase Cloud Messaging for alerts.
Outcome
Live at dineqr.food with self-serve signup, a free trial and paid plans. The landing site is Astro on Cloudflare Pages.
